MISCELLANEOUS INDIVIDUAL & FAMILY HISTORIES CONNECTED WITH LEVERSTOCK GREEN
Although I am local historian rather than a family historian, inevitably the history of a place is bound up in the history of its people. Since the establishment of the Leverstock Green Chronicle website I have had communications from numerous individuals from all parts of the world, seeking information on their family's ancestors. Wherever possible and when time allows I have put together a document detailing any relevant information. Often I receive useful and interesting information in return.
In order to further share much of this information I have published on this page various details, including links to existing relevant websites and pages.
However it should be understood that I have just gathered information often from other sources and I cannot be held responsible for its accuracy. Neither where I have focused on one particular name, do I necessarily imply a family connection between any persons named. This is for the family historian to establish by researching various birth/marriage/death registers and other available documentation. I am not a substitute for the family historian's researches, but I do hope the information I hold may add an additional dimension. I strongley recommend that any family historian seeking information on their families known to have come from Hertfordshire, to visit if possible the Hertfordshire Archive & Local Studies at County Hall Hertford - HALS. (Previously known as the Hertfordshire Record Office) The catalogues and indexes are easy to use and the staff extremely helpful. Visit their website for more information ( click here) particularly if you are unable to visit County Hall yourself. I would also recomend a visit to the Hertfordshire Genealogy website run by Chris Reynolds. For more local information to Dacorum (Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamstead,Tring and the surrounding areas) try the Dacorum Heritage Trust (click here) where an enquiry of the curator might yield useful information. Another new and useful service to local family historians is now provided by the Hemel Hempstead Gazette.
I have had so many contacts now from all over the world, that I keep a spreadsheet with everyone's details and interests on. This also means that I can fairly quickly, and with your permission, put you in touch with others who are studying your family. Over the last couple of years I am pleased to say that I have managed to bring together several strands of two or three highly extended families., but all leading back to Leverstock Green!.
Lastly, just because your family name is not listed here,it does not mean that I have no information on your family. Use the links at the top of this page, and using your browser search on individual webpages for any information.
